2008 PMOAA SCHOLARSHIP

APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED NOW

The Pensacola Chapter of the Military Officers Association of American will once again be awarding scholarship grants to deserving children/ stepchildren, spouses,

grandchildren/stepgrandchildren of active duty or retired military personnel (officer and enlisted).

Applicants must meet additional criteria to be eligible:

1. Must be a resident, a dependent of aresident, or a grandchild of a resident of the  area served by the Pensacola Chapter at thetime of application, i.e., Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties of Florida and south Baldwin County, Alabama.

2. Must have completed one or more years of college/university and have at least a 3.0 GPA if an undergraduate, or a 3.5 GPA if a graduate applicant for each of

the two preceding semesters.

3. Must be considered by the college/university to be a full time student during each of the two preceding semesters. For further information or to request an

All applicants will write a 200-300 word essay on the following theme:

.PATRIOTISM AND WHAT IT MEANS TO ME.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

 

Recipients will be selected based upon the following:

1. Verification of eligibility

2. Needs, goals, essay, and transcripts

 

JUDGING

Judging will be done by the Scholarship Committee, which is comprised of PMOAA members.

 

CONDITIONS

Recipient will remain continuously enrolled during the academic year of the award and maintain the required GPA. Recipient will furnish the Scholarship Chairman a written report of academic progress after completion of each funded term.

 

AWARDS

The recipients and their parents/guardians will be invited to a PMOAA Chapter meeting/dinner at which time the awards will be presented. Time and place will be announced separately. The scholarships will be mailed by PMOAA directly to each recipient’s college/university Bursar’s Office.
